Final Cut Feedback

Genre: - Sticks very much to the music genre 'UK Hip Hop'

Relationships: - Throughout the video their are constantly links between the lyrics and visuals, works well throughout.
- Good lip syncing

Camera work: - Lots of close ups, still shots , use of close ups to emphasis the lyrics.

Editing: - Good transitions, lots of fast cuts, flickering between locations works well with narrative.

Mise en scene: - Grant is fit, appropriate prop usage in locations, like pints in pub. good choice of locations follows narrative. basketball bits good with the change of pace.

special effects: - the black and white looks really effective as they separate locations and times. chorus special effects look really good as it stands between the verses separating them .

Final Cut

Here it is ...

We have just finished our final cut for the music video, apart from rob tinkering with it because he loves himself. We finished a day early after completing the media marathon on tuesday night successfully. We are now going to make our video a quicktime file and then upload it to youtube and then our blog!

At the present moment our group is editing for the final cut as we have finished our rough cut. We are at the moment liking what we have made as it is beginning to look how we planned it to look at the beginning. We are starting to put in some effects to make the project look more professional and less boring. We are all going to stay for an evening editing session so that we can get as much done as possible whilst keeping the quality up to standard as we wont rush it.

Our Pitch

we decided on this song because we think we would be able to make a very good music video on it, also we thought it was the kind of music we like and we felt if we liked the song it would make us more motivated to do a music video therefore making it a bettermusic video. We researched other music videos to try to find out what kind of things we should do in our music video, we look at craig david- seven days and this gave us our biggest idea in the music video. We decided that the video should be the story of what is happening in the lyrics with how the relationship between plan b and chamaine unfolds, and it will have rob (plan b) telling his friend all about with the lyrics. It will begin with Plan B (played by rob) walking to a train station and seeing a fit bird called charmaine. Then the music starts with the first line "the first day i saw you was at the train station". the next part of the song will be rob sitting with a friend telling his friend about the girl he saw.we have lost more ideas taken from other videos which are on our blog (take a look at them). another of our ideas is that when he says "We arrange to go out for a drink at a bar" we have rob enter a bar as she is standing at the bar, as you can see we are strictly following the story. We want to use as many locations as possible, including both when rob is singing to grant and the shots with rob a charmaine so we have a great variation of locations to make it look as interestesting as possible. We have also come up with the idea at the end to use one frame from various shots of plan b and charmaine, so they all flash up quickly at the end, the last shot before this is plan b looking upset so its as if hes remenicing on the past.

Plan B, Charmaine Music Video Project

We have chosen Charmaine by Plan B from the CD given seeing as we feel that it relates to the kind of music genre that we want to use, here are some videos which also fit into the type of music genre from Kano, Jamie T, Plan B and Craig David.

Kano, P's and Q's

The majority of this video is set in the 'streets', following mainly the performer, for our video we want it to be set in more than just one location, but the 'streets' would be one of our locations seeing as it fit into the genre well.



Kano feat. Craig David, This Is The Girl

This video features Kano producing his song, there is parts when he is writing it and recording it, he is singing about a particular girl who never appears in the video, but there are alot of other girls around which he doesn't want because intrested in one alone. We like the idea how the video follows the story of the song and the producing side of it especially when he is writing the song.



Jamie T, Sheila

This video features monkeys inside a house doing house work and Jamie T singing in a dark room, the monkeys are acting out the story of the vdeo which again is something which interests us, we like the part also where he is singing in the dark room and you can only see his face, this sort of thing would look good in our music video.



Plan B Mama

In this song Plan b is singing about problems he is having with his mum because of the person who she is in a relationship with, he sounds like he is singing to his mum but hes only singing to him self, shots of the couple tell the story, the only parts where you see him singing are in his bedroom and when he is driving around in his car. Which is good because you get to see how every day life is for the family and the problems that come with it.



Plan B No Good

In this video consists of animation and normal filming, the way it glitches works well seeing as it is different, the beat to the track suits it becasue it is also different, you woudn't normally have that type of beat with music from this genre. Charmaine des not have a beat like this but it is a good example for a video of this genre.



Craig David, 7 Days



This video is similar to the way we would like to act our out, the way he is telling a story about something which didn't actually happen, in our case how he got it on with some bird, but we will act it out as if something else happend like going round and watching a film together or helping with house work.
